About me

Steve Hurley, PMHNP-BC
Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing outpatient psychiatric care for adults. My work focuses on careful evaluation, thoughtful medication management, and practical treatment plans designed to help patients function better in their daily lives.

I have extensive experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and complex psychiatric presentations across inpatient, long-term care, and outpatient settings. This background allows me to approach treatment with a broad clinical perspective, balancing evidence-based medicine with real-world practicality.

My approach is structured, collaborative, and grounded in measurement-based care. I take time to understand each patient’s symptoms, history, and goals, and I emphasize clear communication, realistic expectations, and regular reassessment. Treatment decisions are made together, with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and long-term stability.

I work primarily with adults and adolescents who are seeking focused psychiatric care—often individuals who have tried treatment before and want a more thoughtful, individualized approach. Appointments are unhurried, and care is designed to be straightforward, professional, and respectful.

Outside of clinical work, my background includes leadership roles in healthcare settings and years of experience working with complex patient populations. This informs a calm, methodical approach to care, particularly for patients who feel overwhelmed or frustrated by the mental health system.

I take a thoughtful, structured approach to psychiatric care, with an emphasis on understanding the full clinical picture before making treatment decisions. Time is spent clarifying diagnoses, identifying meaningful treatment goals, and selecting interventions that are both evidence-based and appropriate for the individual.

Medication management is approached conservatively and adjusted over time based on symptom response, daily functioning, and side effects. Follow-up visits focus on evaluating progress, addressing concerns, and refining the plan as needed.

When helpful, I encourage coordination with psychotherapy and other supports to promote sustained improvement.
